Acuicola del Norte S.A. (Acuinor) is the first company to transport juvenile yellowtail kingfish (Seriola Lalandi) to Dubai, Daniel Elton, general manager of the company, told IntraFish.
The company successfully transported the juvenile from Chile to Dubai in December, and after a 60-hour journey, fish mortality floated at only 6 percent.
“It is the first time someone managed to transport live juvenile of this species for so many hours without significant mortalities,” Elton said.
Acuinor was established over 20 years ago as one of the first Chilean salmon farmers, but switched to yellowtail kingfish farming in 2008.
