The fair weather will contribute to high harvests for the Copper River season opener.

"The weather is beautiful and it's calm in town," Jeremy Botz, area management biologist at the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G), told IntraFish.

He added last year also had good weather for the season opener but "the year before we had a storm."

Tom Sunderland, director of marketing for Ocean Beauty Seafoods in Seattle, said all are looking forward to a great season so far.
