Just more than a year after the closure of the Cromer Crab Company factory with the loss of 230 jobs, a new 935-square-meter facility has been opened in the town by Jonas Seafoods.
But unlike the now-departed Cromer Crab Co. which, as part of Young’s Seafood, bought in product from around the world, Jonas Seafoods will deal mostly in crabs and lobsters supplied by local boats along the north Norfolk coast.
The prime movers are Kevin Jonas, former fisherman and, since 1995, a supplier of crab and lobsters from East Runton, and Nick Samujlik, former procurement manager for Cromer Crab Co.
