Japan's Hokkaido surimi production fell 5 percent in July from previous year's figures, according to newly released figures by the National Surimi Manufacturers Association.

The five onshore surimi plants produced 909 metric tons of frozen surimi, including product from raw materials other than Alaska pollock.

Between January and including July, volumes were down 17 percent to 7,168 metric tons, the figures showed.

In July alone, 886 metric tons of Alaska pollock surimi were produced, down 7 percent year-on-year.

In the seven months through July, the output of Alaska pollock surimi dropped 16 percent to 6,996 metric tons.
