IFFO has opened its certification of fish meal and fish oil factories to everyone following its Board of Directors meeting.
With roughly 40 percent of the world's production of fish meal and fish oil certified, the board members decided to allow all facilities the ability to apply to "ensure the continued growth of the standard and bring it in line with recognized best practice for standard setting," according to IFFO RS Board Chairman, Andrew Jackson.
To help with the certification process, the board agreed to appoint an additional "certification body," the ability to inspect factories and make determinations, making the process more efficient and cost effective.
