A land-based fish farm in West Advocate, Nova Scotia, Canada, is hoping to double its output with a CAD 5.5 million (€4.1 million/$5.4 million) expansion.

Canaqua Seafoods grows halibut, Arctic char and salmon smolt in seawater that comes from wells near the ocean. Founded in 2006, the company now produces about 95 metric tons per year of mostly halibut and some char, according to Herald Business, but has potential for 220 metric tons, said president and founder, Paul Merlin.
