Marine Harvest Norway achieved permission by the Norwegian Environment Agency to import up to 200,000 eyed ova of Atlantic salmon from Marine Harvest Ireland.
The ova will be set in at Marine Harvest’s Oyerham facility at Haraldsoy, Kvinnherad.
Marine Harvest’s application stated the ova are to be imported are from the Fanad-MOWI brood, which is only based on genetic material from the Norwegian farmed brood MOWI.
Ova, fry and smolt from the MOWI brood were exported from Norway to Ireland in the period 1981 to 1986.
