When it comes to Norway’s aquaculture industry, salmon gets all the attention.

But it is another of the country’s aquaculture exports that has caught the eye of US retailer Wegmans.

Six weeks ago the retailer began selling fresh farmed halibut produced by Nordic SeaFarms, which is located on Averoy Island, on the northwest coast of Norway.

The fish is now in 15 of the chain's more than 80 stores, and it is being rolled out to more stores steadily, Carl Salamone, vice president of seafood at New York-based Wegmans, told IntraFish.
