Longtime Whole Foods Global Seafood Director David Pilat has left the company, an official at the company told IntraFish.
Pilat joined Whole Foods in 1994, putting his tenure at more than 23 years.
In December, Pilat discussed Whole Foods latest seafood initiative: the launch of pre-packed chilled portions. The product is branded with Whole Foods 365 label, and is targeted at locations with smaller footprints.
Whole Foods pioneered a range of sustainable seafood initiatives under Pilat's tenure, including groundbreaking farmed seafood specifications and, more recently, a partnership with fish feed firm BioMar to supply a salmon raised on innovative feed that dramatically brought down the fish in, fish out ratio.
