Marine Harvest is introducing new real-time freshness labeling technology, Keep-it, in its European seafood production, the company said.

The firm will add the Keep-it indicator to their products in ten European markets by 2019, offering information on shelf life, in a move that will also help reduce waste.

The indicators are attached to the packaging directly after the fresh fish is cut and packed, and the technology tracks external temperature impact on the fish in real time throughout the cold chain.
